Worship Leader
One of the ways you may serve during worship is to be the Worship Leader. The reader gives a distinct human voice to the word of God in the scripture. All adult believers, regardless of circumstance, level of ability, or position are welcome to serve.
- Get a copy of the Order of Worship, available online on Friday each week.
- Contact the pastor prior to Sunday if you have questions.
- Your role typically includes reading these parts of the service: Prayer of Safety, Call to Worship, announcing the hymns, the scripture (the pastor will read the Gospel when there is more than one reading), Prayer of Confession, and the Offertory prayer.
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to the Sunday worship service and meet with the pastor in the back of the sanctuary.
- Assist acolytes with lighting their torch.
- Enjoy yourself! Worship is a time of celebration!
Acolytes and Bell Ringers
Children in 4th grade or higher are welcome to serve in worship as a bell ringer and acolyte. (Sadly, our bell isn't ringing since the 2018 earthquake, but we hope to have it back soon!)
- Acolytes are trained by someone from the Worship Team
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the worship service
- Have an adult help you ring the bell just before the service begin
Front Door Greeter
We want everyone to feel welcome, and our front door greeters meet and greet members and guests alike, and also provide direction as needed.
- Sign up on the clipboard at the back of the sanctuary
- Wear your name tag so that everyone knows your name
- Arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of the service
- Smile and greet people as they enter the building
- If people are unsure where the sanctuary is, guide them to it.
- If people have children, ask if they are interested in Sunday School classes and their location
Welcome Bread
One of the ways you may serve during worship is to help provide the loaves of bread which are given to first-time visitors at the beginning of each worship service.
- Bake miniature loaves of bread (any kind - sweet, savory, plain, nut, etc.) and put them in the freezer in the old kitchen off the main level.
- Sew Bags for the Welcome Bread
Communion Server
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month at the 10 am service, and every Sunday at the 8:00 am service (during the winter). You can volunteer during the service when the pastor asks for volunteers, or ahead of time by putting your name down on the sign-up sheet in the Narthex.
Sanctuary Greeter
Our Sanctuary greeters provide another level of welcome, and hand out the weekly bulletins.
- Sign up on the clipboard at the back of the sanctuary
- Wear your name tag so that everyone knows your name
- Arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of the service
- Smile and greet people as they enter the building
- Hand out bulletins
- Assist the acolytes if they need any help lighting the torches and/or ringing the bell
