UPDATED: R4R Yard Sales in October

UPDATE: We’re planning our last R4R weekend yard sale this coming Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 & 24, 10 am to 3 pm. We’ll have a variety of goods, this time including winter clothes and a limited number of books. We also need to announce that, until further notice, we won’t be able to accept any more donations. We encourage the community to continue to recycle God’s resources by delivering them to other nonprofits.  There will be no sale 30/31 of October.  We’ve put in considerable effort to wind things up because it’s simply too cold!

Due to health safety concerns due, Recycle for a Reason has not collected donations of usable goods from the community on a regular basis since the first part of March, 2020. However, several special requests were received, mostly from people who were moving, and those tasked with emptying houses/apartments of people who have passed away. Since recycling those items is a mission in itself, we accepted the challenge. The result was an abundance of donations, so many that we overwhelmed our storage capacity. The only solution available, while adhering to the Covid-19 restrictions on occupancy, is to hold outdoor/yard sales. This past Friday/Saturday was our first such venture. It was a success in that we learned several things to improve our next attempt on Oct 16 and 17. For one thing, the times will be more convenient for shoppers, 10 am to 3 pm, both Friday and Saturday. Regular road signs will be in place and the time and place will be posted online. True, the weather will be a bit more chilly, but the bargains will be hot!

At this time, the opportunities to drop off donations have not been set. Until the storage areas are freed, we simply don’t have room to take on more. Weekend sales will continue until weather becomes prohibitive.
