A May Message From the Pastor

Hello my friends,

It has been quite some time, honestly much longer than it should have been, since I have reached out in a letter to each of you. It is my sincerest prayer that this letter finds you in good health, with content hearts, and blessed with peaceful minds. Our circumstances of life are different, much different, than what may be considered “normal” and it is easy for fear and anxiety to find their way into more prominent positions of our experience. I am prayerful and hopeful that God has eased the difficulties in your lives brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated response. I am prayerful and hopeful that you have been surrounded by your neighbors and have felt the touch and the prayers of the church through connection with our Care Coordinators. If these calls have evaded you, please do not hesitate to contact us at office@umcchugiak.org or pastordavid@umcchugiak.org to facilitate a call and a conversation.

Since we have last been together, many things continue to be in motion in our church and in our community. We have been working to continue with the repairs to the church following the earthquake in November of 2018. The church leadership has worked to avail our congregation of all of the benefits associated with the COVID-19 response measures and stimulus packages. We are working with other local organizations to maintain a connection with our local community to know needs and respond to them as necessary. Even though our doors have not been unlocked, the church has continued to be open and operating in the name of Christ in the spaces most necessary at this time. I look forward to sharing this information with you on a scheduled virtual Town Hall meeting Thursday, 21 May @ 6:30 PM. You will find the registration information in the text below.

I do miss seeing you. I understand that many of you long to be back in the church surrounded by your family and friends. We are working diligently toward that end and it is important for us to do it safely, mitigating risk, and promoting health. Within the next few weeks, we will have a proposed plan in place for unlocking our doors for worship. I look forward to sharing it with you soon.

Blessings,

Pastor David
