Maundy Thursday Service
7 PM, April 1, no foolin’
Maundy Thursday is the day of Holy Week when we celebrate the Last Supper of Jesus and the disciples. Our communion service is a direct connection to the Last Supper. It has been a number of months since we celebrated communion together. Our Maundy Thursday service will be a traditional communion service with some interesting twists. The service will occur in the upper parking lot and under the Porte cochere. People are asked to stay in their car unless the weather is warm enough for people to feel comfortable gathering outside under the Porte cochere. We will transmit the service via a FM transmitter to your car. Communion will be brought to you in your car with the bread already cut into individual pieces and we’ll have the juice in the individual serving cups. I hope you will join us as a church family as we observe our sacrament and encounter the living Christ with us in the breaking of bread and sharing of the fruit of the vine.
Good Friday Service
7 PM, April 2
Online Streaming
Our observance of the passion and death of Christ on Good Friday will be online again this year. Also this year it will include Pastor Dave taking us through the Stations of the Cross. This year we will intertwine into the Stations of the Cross our church’s frequent practice of the stripping of the alter, placing black cloth on the pieces of the alter and the crown of thorns on the cross. The stripping of the alter will occur in between some of the Stations of the Cross with some of our familiar hymns being played by Terri. This is our most somber service of the year. It is a way for us to participate in the anguish of Christ and experience again the depth of love of Christ for us that we might truly know God as love. Even if you cannot view the service online at 7 PM on Friday evening, I hope you will plan to view the service prior to Easter having your own Good Friday service.
Easter Service
10:15 AM April 4
Our Easter celebration will be different this year as well. We will gather in the lower parking lot of the church in our cars with the service occurring under the back entrance cover. The service will be broadcasted via FM transmitter to your vehicle. For those who attended our Christmas Eve service, our Easter service will function the same way. How we will do music is still being decided but hopefully it will be warm enough for us to stand outside our cars and lift our voices in praise and adoration of our resurrected Lord. You may be handed a bulletin upon driving into the lower parking lot. Please plan on attending our Easter service with the rest of the church.
