We have been talking about a Nome Mission Trip for a couple of months. Well, Nome Community United Methodist Church reached out to us Wednesday evening with a potential job for a mission team and your Charge Conference approved going forward with it later last night.
Here’s what we know:
- The goal is to install 3,900 Square Feet of Vinyl Plank Flooring throughout most of their church/parsonage (they are connected).
- It will be summer 2022.
- We will sleep in their church and will cook there as well.
- Because of the nature of the job, this is not a “youth mission trip” although we could most likely bring along youth who would be helpful (parents will need to know what their kids can handle).
- We’ll be looking for a couple skilled people to be project managers on the site.
- Pastor Jim will presently plan to go and handle logistics (he can work as well, but–let’s be honest–he is not skilled labor).
- We will do fundraising to help offset the cost of the trip for team members and potentially assist with purchasing the siding (still being worked out).
- We know that, as soon as we find a time to go, some people won’t be able to attend. We’d love it if everyone could go, but we need to make sure our goal is completing the work the church has requested.
Please email Pastor Jim if interested (pastorjim@gmail.com).
