Pictures from our Vision Sunday and Charge Conference

On Sunday, October 26th, we introduced a new vision for The United Methodist Church of Chugiak — MANY PATHS. ONE TABLE. CHRIST AT THE CENTER.

Entering the church, our new vision was displayed in our Welcome Area with other signage along the path to the Sanctuary.

Our worship space had our new vision prominently displayed along a wall, surrounded by pictures of our church already living into these themes. The altar was decorated with pieces of ribbon, symbolizing our “Many Paths” and, during worship, participants were invited to come and join their ribbons together on a single stand, representing each of the different paths that come together our congregation.

Of course, we had holy communion…with “One Table” being more than symbolic but a liturgical reality for the day.

We had something new on the altar that we’ll plan on keeping there for this season in our church life–a Christ Candle. This is a way for us to keep “Christ at the Center” of who we are. The candle is from local birch wood and was cut at our local sawmill. It has a fuel oil candle inside of it that we can light along with our altar candles each Sunday.

After worship we had a “Finger Food Potluck” and moved to our annual Charge Conference with Rev. McGuire presiding.  (Thank you to Betty Burke for handful of Charge Conference photos).
